PRIVI SPECIALITY CHEMICALS LIMITED Annual Report 2020-21
99 Annual Report 2020-21 CORPORATE OVERVIEW STATUTORY REPORTS FINANCIAL STATEMENTS Deferred tax relating to items recognised outside profit or loss is recognised either in other comprehensive income or in equity. Deferred tax items are recognised in correlation to the underlying transaction either in OCI or directly in equity. Deferred tax assets and deferred tax liabilities are offset if a legally enforceable right exists to set off current tax assets against current tax liabilities and the deferred taxes relate to the same taxable entity and the same taxation authority. Minimum Alternative tax (‘MAT’) under the provisions of the Income tax Act, 1961 is recognized as current tax in the Statement of Profit and loss. The credit available under the Act in respect of MAT paid is recognized as an asset only when and to the extent it is probable that the Company will pay normal income tax during the year for which the MAT credit can be carried forward for set-off against the normal tax liability. MAT credit recognized as an asset is reviewed at each balance sheet date and written down to the extent the aforesaid convincing evidence no longer exists. xvi. Earnings per share Basic earnings per share are calculated by dividing the net profit for the year attributable to equity shareholders by the weighted average number of equity shares outstanding during the year. Earnings considered in ascertaining the Company’s earnings per share are the net profit for the year attributable to equity shareholders. For the purpose of calculating diluted earnings per share, the net profit or loss for the year attributable to equity shareholders and the weighted average number of shares outstanding during the year is adjusted for the effects of all dilutive potential equity shares, except where the results would be anti-dilutive. xvii. Provisions and contingent liabilities Provisions are recognised when the Company has a present obligation (legal or constructive) as a result of a past event, it is probable that an outflow of resources embodying economic benefits will be required to settle the obligation and a reliable estimate can be made of the amount of the obligation. The expense relating to a provision is presented in the statement of profit and loss. If the effect of the time value of money is material, provisions are discounted using a current pre-tax rate that reflects, when appropriate, the risks specific to the liability. When discounting is used, the increase in the provision due to the passage of time is recognised as a finance cost. Provision in respect of loss contingencies relating to claims litigation, assessment, fines, penalties etc. are recognized when it is probable that a liability has been incurred, and the amount can be estimated reliably. A contingent liability exists when there is a possible but not probable obligation, or a present obligation that may, probably will not, require an outflow of resources embodying economic benefits, or a present obligation whose amount cannot be estimated reliably. Contingent liabilities do not warrant provisions but are disclosed unless the possibility of outflow of resources is remote. Contingent assets are neither recognized nor disclosed in the standalone financial statements. However, contingent assets are assessed continually and if it is virtually certain that an inflow of economic resources embodying economic benefits will arise, related income are recognized in the year in which the change occurs. xviii.Fair value measurement The Company measures financial instruments, such as, derivatives at fair value at each balance sheet date. Fair value is the price that would be received to sell an asset or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date. The fair value measurement is based on the presumption that the transaction to sell the asset or transfer the liability takes place either: – In the principal market for the asset or liability, or – In the absence of a principal market, in the most advantageous market for the asset or liability The principal or the most advantageous market must be accessible by the Company. The fair value of an asset or a liability is measured using the assumptions that market participants would use when pricing the asset or liability, assuming that market participants act in their economic best interest. xix. Estimation of uncertainties relating to the global health pandemic from COVID-19: - The Global pandemic Covid-19 continues. The business of the Company was not affected for the year ended March 31, 2021 and impact is insignificant. Having reviewed the underlying data and based on current estimates the Company expects the carrying amount of assets will be recovered and there is no significant impact on liabilities accrued. The impact of COVID-19 on the Company’s standalone financial statements may differ from that estimated as at the date of approval of these standalone financial statements and the Company will continue to closely monitor any material changes to future economic conditions.
