Water is essential for life. The amount of fresh water on our planet is limited, and its quality is under constant pressure. Preserving and conserving the quality of fresh water is crucial for maintaining drinking-water supply, food production and recreational water use. Water quality can be compromised by the presence of infectious agents, toxic chemicals, and radiological hazards. Globally, manufacturing is a prime contributor towards water pollution. Privi understands and recognizes this need and constantly works towards water conversation and recycling.
The Company has implemented Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) facility at its Unit-II and Unit-III in Mahad and Unit-VI in Jhagadia (though it is not mandatory) to ensure complete recycle of wastewater generated during its operations and convert all effluents into salts and reusable water.
- Waste Water Recycling and Reuse: The company consisting of Reverse Osmosis (RO), Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE) was installed at one of our water intensive manufacturing units and also planning to install Mechanical vapor Recompression evaporation (MVRE) system coming year.
- Recycled water reused for cooling towers and plantations – More than 50% of treated effluent water has been recycled directly reducing freshwater requirement.
- Use of high-pressure pumps to reduce water usage in cleaning and washing.
- Treatment of both non-process and process-effluent water through the Reverse Osmosis Plant and Multi Effect Evaporator Plant.
- Use of Natural resources – A rooftop Rain water harvesting system has installed in Units - I, II & III at Mahad and more than 30% of daily water requirement is fulfilled through it during the 3 months of monsoon.
- At multiple locations, the organization is planning to replace conventional water taps with state-of-the-art water-saving aerators, featuring flow control mechanisms and auto shutoff. This upgrade minimised water wastage.
